Connie M. James O.D. received her undergraduate education at East Tennessee State University. She then attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN where she received her Doctorate of Optometry in 1995. Dr. James has been in practice over 17 years in Nashville, TN. She completed an internship in Pediatric Optometry with Glen Steele O.D. in Memphis TN. Dr. James interned with Memphis Family Vision. She also did a rotation in ocular disease with M. C. Schanzer M.D. in Memphis TN. Dr. James built a very busy practice in the Mall at Green Hills before moving into private practice on Music Row.
Dr. James is currently licensed to practice therapeutic optometry and can diagnose and treat eye disease. She has a particular interest in diagnosing and treating glaucoma, dry eye, and ocular infections as well as prescribing a variety of contact lenses. Dr. James co-manages patients with several opthamologists for laser vision correction. Dr. James was trained at the Lighthouse Institute in New York City for low vision. She enjoys working with children and tending to all of their eye care needs.
Dr. James is married and enjoys spending time with her husband Lewis and two rescue dogs, Jesse and Silver. She loves live music, comedy, church activities, and watching Vanderbilt sports. She’s also a Tennessee Titans fan.
